Dryland Champions is a new programme designed to honor activities by individuals and/or organizations and business respectively   that make a practical contribution to sustainable land management (SLM) practices. Under the Dryland Champions motto “I am part of the solution,” the initiative focuses first and foremost on people, their commitment and endeavors for improving the livelihoods of populations and the conditions of ecosystems affected by desertification and drought.

UNESCO Launches Free Online Course on Media and Information Literacy (Short Deadline!)
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has launched a free online course that supports Media and Information Literacy (MIL) and Intercultural Dialogue. The course which is designed for teachers, policy makers and professionals will be offered over 13 weeks, from February 25 to May 31, 2013 and will be led by the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Australia.

World Agroforestry Centre Vacancy: Research Assistant (Short Deadline!)
The selected candidate will work as a member of CIMMYT’s Global Conservation Agriculture Program (CIMMYT-GCAP), and will be based at ICRAF   HUYE (Butare)-Rwanda offices. The research assistant will play a key role in a large multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional team. The selected candidate will interact closely with ICRAF’s research team in Rwanda and CIMMYT’s team in Ethiopia and Kenya, and will work closely with advanced research institutes ( ICRAF and CIMMYT), national research and extension programs (RAB), national universities (NUR), NGOs, and private sector stakeholders in Rwanda.

The Tattarillo awards 2013
The International Thesis Award "Award Tattarillo" (in le seguenti Tattarillo award) for Bachelor's, MS and PhD theses is organized by "Engineers Without Borders - Florence NPO" (Engineering without Borders - Florence, in le seguenti ISF-Fi) in the memory of Thomas Fiorentino friend and fellow in Environmental Engineering at the University of Florence, who tragically died in November 2003.

Call for Applications: Youth Solidarity Fund
The Youth Solidarity Fund (YSF) provides seed funding to outstanding youth-led initiatives that promote long-term constructive relationships between people from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds. The Fund links small scale and local work to larger movements for social and global change. The YSF supports the development of young peoples’ organizations and other means for their work to have an even broader and deeper impact and to be expanded. It was established to answer the calls for action made around the world by youth organizations since the creation of the UNAOC.

FAO Vacancy: Partnership Officer (Monitoring/Right to food)

Applications are welcome from young African women ages19 – 25, living in Africa and the Diaspora.
